Marx
This was always going to be a difficult page to do justice to due to the sheer volume of items that Marx have produced. I think that they were probably the most prolific of any figure producer, and like many of their competitors, they openly copied from others. It is also probably true to say that their playsets have never been surpassed, either in volume or originality of subject. Playsets, are almost solely and American thing -I can't think of any other Country that has produced Playsets in this quantity. A few may have produced odd sets, but nothing like those that has previously been available by Marx. Why does Marx stuff vary so much in price? The hardened Collector will probably say that it is down to which colour was issued at whatever stage, and if there were additional poses in that colour that were not available prior to or after that issue!. Certainly American price lists will bare this out. So, without getting too involved with what can be a very emotive subject, the vast majority of items that are on this page will be re-issues, unless stated - and even then I will more than likely be corrected by someone. One last word about Scale. Marx must have been one of the very few Companies that have produced in every Scale associated with figures - 1/72, 1/40, 1/35 or 50mm, 1/32 or 54mm, 60mm, 4.5", 6" and 12 inch. (now I know that I am going to get an e-mail about this, so what have I missed?). In their Playsets, Scale was of no importance, hence you may have a WWII set with different Scale vehicles! Odd - but keep remembering these were only toys, and they were meant to - and succeeded in doing so - awaken ones imagination.
*One last word - any re-issues from Mexico are liable to have some minor damage to some of the figures. Mexico is still a third-world Country, they do not take quality seriously, especially when applied to what are just cheap lumps of plastic to them!
